At Axle, we’re committed to building stronger communities, and that begins with supporting the next generation. This month, we’re shining a light on our incredible partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, an organization that’s doing life-changing work for youth in our area. They provide a foundation for success, ensuring that every child has the support they need to thrive.
Mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs is: “To enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.” They strive to create a safe and supportive environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. It’s more than just an after-school and summer program; it’s a launchpad for brighter futures.
Summer Kickoff Party
At the beginning of the month, our summer interns had the opportunity to visit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley for their annual Summer Kickoff Party. Our interns served lunch to the kids, played games, and helped ensure a memorable start to the summer. This experience left a lasting impression on our team. It reminded us that sometimes, the smallest gestures make the biggest difference.
“It was truly inspiring to see the energy and excitement of the kids. Being able to contribute to their day and witness their smiles firsthand put the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs into perspective for me,” said Morgan Arnurius, one of our interns.
Sarah Gilliam, Axle’s Senior Corporate Trainer, stated, “Our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs is incredibly important. You can see the direct impact we have on these young lives, providing not only a safe space but also opportunities for growth and positive relationships. It reinforces why we at Axle are committed to supporting them.”
Garden Project
Later in June, our interns had the chance to visit the Boys & Girls Clubs at their North Ridge location to help with their garden project, which involved planting flowers and updating their flower beds. This allowed for learning, teamwork, and community building, leaving a lasting positive impact on everyone involved.
“It was incredibly rewarding to see the immediate impact of our efforts in the garden,” said Sydney Scherer, Axle intern. “Knowing that our work contributes to a sustainable space that benefits the entire community is a wonderful feeling. I truly enjoyed every moment of this opportunity to help the Boys & Girls Clubs.”
David Pasca, another Axle intern, said, “This project with the Boys & Girls Clubs wasn’t just about planting; it was about understanding the impact we can have on others. It showed me how even a small amount of effort can create a lasting positive change in the community, and it truly felt good to see our team come together for a shared purpose outside the office.”
Building Great Futures
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley focus on key areas of development, including academic success, character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles. As their website highlights, they are “a beacon of hope for young people, providing guidance and support to help them achieve great futures.” The Boys & Girls Clubs create a foundation where children build confidence, develop skills, and form positive connections that will serve them for a lifetime.
Continuing Our Partnership
Axle is honored to support an organization that makes a tangible difference in the lives of young people. The Summer Kickoff Party and Garden Project were wonderful reminders of the bright futures being shaped within the Boys & Girls Clubs, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.
Axle is committed to expanding our involvement, increasing volunteer opportunities, and providing resources that ensure every child who walks through the doors of the Boys & Girls Clubs knows they have a strong community supporting them.
