Staying One Step Ahead
For Richie, consistency starts with preparation. “Setting ourselves up for the next day” has become one of the biggest habits that keeps the team operating efficiently week after week.
From getting ahead on pre-booking and communicating with drivers before early morning pickups to planning sales activity before leaving for the day, the group focuses heavily on staying proactive instead of reactive. That preparation creates flexibility throughout the day and allows the team to quickly handle challenges as they arise.
Navigating Challenges Together
One of the biggest challenges Evan and the team faced recently was in early March, as shifting market conditions collided with a seasonal surge in flatbed demand. Tightening capacity and rising rates created added pressure across operations, requiring the team to adapt quickly and stay closely aligned throughout the process.
To stay ahead of changing conditions, the group collaborated daily on pricing strategies, prioritized shipments, and executed quickly. Just as importantly, they maintained consistent communication with customers, helping build trust and set clear expectations during a challenging market environment. As Evan shared, “By staying aligned internally and remaining transparent with our customers, we maintained strong service levels throughout a challenging market environment.”
Communication That Builds Trust
For Ian, communication is one of the biggest reasons the team continues to succeed together. “Clear communication is an absolute game changer.”
In an industry filled with so many moving pieces, staying connected and learning each other’s business creates trust across the group. Open communication throughout the day allows teammates to support one another during both busy and challenging moments. Ian also emphasized how dependable the team has become for one another, especially when challenges start to pile up throughout the workday.

Driven by Energy and Competition
When Mack was asked to describe the team in three words, he chose: “Driven, Personable, Consistent.” That mindset shows up daily through the team’s energy and competitiveness. Whether through contests during the workweek, spending time together outside of work, or feeding off each other’s momentum, the group keeps morale high by creating an environment built around positivity, accountability, and competition.
Mack shared that all it takes is one person bringing the right attitude and energy into the day for it to impact the entire team’s mindset.
The group also celebrates wins together constantly, both professionally and personally. Ian explained that the friendships within the pod naturally create competitive energy while still reinforcing support and motivation as everyone pushes each other to improve.
Building Their Own Empire
For Shea, the team reflects Axle’s culture through relationships, resilience, and adaptability. “This team has built its own empire.”
By developing close relationships with customers and maintaining efficient internal communication, the group has continued to adapt quickly to changing market conditions while consistently executing at a high level. Working alongside the team has also reinforced the importance of resilience, teamwork, and integrity, helping everyone continue to grow through adversity and success.
Focused on Growth
Every day At the center of the team’s success is a shared commitment to improvement. Richie pointed to the people and culture surrounding the team as motivation to show up every day with the right attitude, while Evan emphasized the group’s focus on communication, execution, and “learning how to become 1% better every day.”
That mentality continues to define how this team operates: competitive, connected, and committed to raising the standard together
